Her dedication to understanding and treating trauma, behavioral psychology, and PTSD has garnered her intensive and unparalleled training in these areas.

Ms. Rhodes further broadened her expertise during a year-long internship with the ABC Unified School District, where she advised the Board of Education on transitioning towards a trauma-informed, less punitive approach in educational support.

Animal-Assisted Therapy Specialization

In addition to her extensive background in psychotherapy, Ms. Rhodes possesses a distinctive specialization in Animal-Assisted Therapy. She holds certifications in public access training for service dogs, early puppy development, and the human-animal bond. Her experience includes working with paws4people, a non-profit organization that trains service animals for veterans and children with disabilities.

During her time with New Life K9, another non-profit organization focused on training service dogs for veterans, Ms. Rhodes gained expertise in bond-based choice training, a groundbreaking theory developed by Jennifer Arnold. She successfully applied the principles of developing the human-canine bond to an Animal-Assisted Therapy program she initiated within the California prison system focused on rebuilding secure attachments alongside her trusted partner, Geege, a service dog in training.

Today, Ms. Rhodes and Geege continue to collaborate as a team, providing transformative Animal-Assisted Therapy to members of the community. Their mission revolves around restoring resilience through the development of secure attachments. Ms. Rhodes also imparts valuable insights on how to build a stronger therapeutic connection with your own canine companion.
